It was about Noon, and lunch time. Luckily the school had an off campus lunch, or Nate wouldn’t be able to survive on the school’s gruel. Nathan Shandent, was a 17 year old male who went to Jekston High School. He was about 5’9”, and skinny with a slightly toned body,  had a paler tone to his skin, medium length choppy emo styled black hair, with a fringe that laid slightly over his left eye, his eyes were a beautiful Dark Brown that seemed to have a striking and stunning presence when he looked at you. He had on a black zip-up hoody, with a black Aeropostale shirt, semi-tight dark blue jeans, with a black belt, that he wore the buckle off to his side, and a pair of black Adios shoes. Most girls considered him hot, but never really went out with him, cause the school he went to was more of the “rich, preppy, popular type”, which who was he kidding, that is most big schools. He didn’t care though, he was also into guys, but to say the least, they weren’t all into him. Nate preferred to be alone anyway, he figures there are to many complications with relationships, though it doesn’t hurt to have someone who cares for you, but what the heck, he figures that’s what friends are for, for now.
       The lunch bell rang, and Nate sighed. “The day is almost over” he thought to himself, he took a left down the hall today, instead of a right, so as to avoid his friends. He just wasn’t in the mood for anything today. He casually strolled down the hall keeping to himself, with one earpiece in from his Ipod, he was listening to 23 Days by Framing Hanley, one of his all time favorite bands. He rolled his eyes, waiting for people to move out of the way, he didn’t know why people were waiting in line to get the school’s gruel anyway. Proof of how gross the school’s food is happened to pass in front of him. He noticed Alyssia, one of the finest girls in school was walking by with a plateful of  Lasagna, which so happened to look like tire rubber, sitting in a pool of car oil. His stomach lurched a little, at the thought of how someone like that, could eat something like that.
       The line had finally shortened up enough, so he could squeeze through. Once through he quietly sneaked towards the front door, noticing his friends Daryl and Ian standing at the pop machine talking to each other, and of course checking out all the cheerleaders asses. Nate laughed a little, at noticing Ian checking out the only male cheerleaders ass. Ian had a crush on Scott for two years, but never had to nerve to ask him out. So instead Ian ended up dating some blonde airhead chick from his schools rival school, Garter High School, of course…Ian is an idiot, cause that stupid move would  SO increase his chances of going out on a date with Scott. Nate slipped through the doors unnoticed. He looked out at the parking lot, which too was full of people, who were eating outside enjoying the nice Spring weather. Spring is a sign that school is almost over, and Nate smiled at the thought of that. He quickly dipped and dodged throughout all the cars in the parking lot until he came across his. Everyone who went to this school seemed to have a nice car, cause if you didn’t, you’re car was a target. He’d been there, and done that, which is why he was glad he worked hard at a local diner to buy this beauty. A 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT, with heated leather seats, heat being for the winter, XM radio, awesome speakers, and heads up display, well you know…the works as he thought.
       He got in his car and started it up, the engine purred to life beautifully. He took off slowly in the parking lot, then sped up and headed to Subway. He didn’t know why but he just felt like Subway today, and he usually doesn’t eat lunch, but the nice weather must have been getting to him. Nate arrived at Subway, killed the engine, and walked into the restaurant. Once inside he rolled his eyes, and nearly turned around to leave seeing who was there.  Nate sighed, and decided to stick around anyway, it wasn’t like Derrin owned the store. Nate walked up to the counter, and tried to act oblivious to his surroundings so not as to enter a conversation with “The Jock”. To his surprise Derrin was actually alone, none of his buddies around. Derrin didn’t seem to notice Nate and sat at his table eating what looked like a Turkey and Swiss cheese sub, and reading a magazine. It was cute how Derrin ate so peacefully, and not obnoxiously like most of the other jocks. Nate was locked on a dead dreamy stare watching Derrin eat, and only snapped back into the real world cause the lady at the counter about hit him over the head with a loaf of Italian bread. Sarah was a goof, she was friends with his older sister, so being hit in the head now-a-days would be normal cause they became great friends.
       Nate ordered his sub, which just so happened to be a Turkey and Provolone cheese sub, and sat down at the other end of the restaurant, and ate quietly and absentmindedly while listening to his Ipod. Derrin was a very cute, hot and handsome guy, which girls seemed to faun over, Alyssia tried to get in his pants everyday. Derrin was about 6’, lean and had a little more of a build than Nate. Derrin to had black hair, but his was short and spiked. Derrin had beautiful green eyes, and crystal clear skin. Derrin was on the swim team, which is why Nate called him a jock, because whether it’s one sport or four sports…you’re doing one, therefore you are a jock. Derrin was wearing a teal American Eagle t-shirt, with a pair of semi-tight dark blue jeans and white Adios!?  Nate’s eyes widened a little at seeing Derrin wear Adios, and nearly choked on his sandwich making a slight muffled sound, which in turn grabbed Derrin’s attention. Derrin looked up and noticed Nate, and smiled. Nate and Derrin didn’t really fight, or bully each other, its just that Nate found Derrin to be annoying, cause Derrin comes from a pretty wealthy family, is a jock, has all the girls chasing after him, so on and so forth. Derrin walked over to the table, and tapped on Nate’s back.
       “Hey man, you going to be ok?” he asked, with a concerned look on his face. Nate finally stopped coughing, and took a drink of his Pepsi, and shook his head yes, looking down at his food, and rolling his eyes hard, luckily Derrin didn’t notice. Derrin smiled “Alright”, and returned to his table, grabbed his stuff, and sat down at Nate’s table.
       “What an asshole” Nate said in his head, and nearly started cussing up a storm in his head when Derrin sat down in front of him.  “Um, yeah, can I help you?” Nate said slightly annoyed.
       “You looked kinda lonely, so I figured, hey why not join you.” Derrin smiled. Nate sighed, and took a bite of his sandwich, and took out one earpiece and played his music again. He didn’t want to seem totally rude, and have both of them in. They both sat there eating in silence, until they were both done. “Here, let me get that” Derrin said, grabbing Nate’s trash and taking care of it, along with his own.
       “Uh, thanks Derrin” Nate said, totally weirded out at having had lunch with a jock. Derrin sat back down, and showed Nate a page out of the magazine he was reading. It was a shoe catalog, and Adios shoes catalog.
       “I noticed you were also wearing Adios, and I figured I’d show you the newest pair they have coming out” Derrin smiled. Nate tried not to look at the magazine, wanting to show no interest, but sneaked a peak anyway, he so wanted those shoes.
       “Yeah, those are cool” Nate sighed, “Now go the hell away” he muttered, slightly rolling his eyes stealthily.
       “What?” Derrin said, seeming not to catch the last part, raising an eyebrow.
       “Oh, nothing, I was just muttering to myself about how much I want those shoes, the ones I’m wearing are getting some serious wear and tear.” he smiled, trying to lie.
       Derrin smiled, and nodded his head, like he understood, but looked back down at the magazine, giving it a sad face at knowing what Nate really said. Derrin had a crush on Nate since the beginning of the school year, and thought this the perfect opportunity to get to know him better, but it seems Nate didn’t show the same feelings. Derrin knew Nate was openly bi, he’d witnessed Nate and Daryl make-out once for ten dollars, cause Alyssia thought it was the hottest thing ever. Derrin sighed quietly, and closed the magazine, looking at his cell phone.
       “Well, we better get back to school, classes is going to start soon” he smiled.
       “Yeah I guess so” Nate agreed, thanking God in his head. They both got up, and left the store, Derrin got in his 2006 Chevy Convertible, and Nate took a drink of his pop, noticing it was Root beer. “Eww” he said looking at it. He walked over to Derrin’s car, and handed him the pop. “We mixed up our drinks” he said, Derrin grabbed the Pepsi and handed it to Nate.
       “Sorry” Derrin said with a smirk.
       “Its ok, just don’t do it again, or I’ll dump it on you” Nate joked, which in turn had Derrin laughing a little.
       “Well see you at school” Derrin smiled, and pulled out heading to the school. Nate got in his car, and too headed to the school.
